Windham, OH — Hope Town Ohio, a trusted recovery housing provider in Portage County, is pleased to announce a strategic transition in its housing model. The organization will shift from operating a Level 2 Women’s Recovery House to offering Level 1 Recovery Housing for Men. This change is part of Hope Town’s ongoing mission to meet the evolving needs of the local recovery community while providing the resources and support necessary for long-term success. Hope Town will continue to offer our Level 2 Men’s Recovery Housing, with this new step-down Level 1 housing option, to support residents as they progress in their recovery journey.

Ted St. John, Chief Executive Officer of Hope Town Ohio, commented on the decision to realign services: “We recognized an increasing need for step-down housing options for men within our recovery community. For some, the support and structure provided by Level 2 housing are no longer necessary, but the continued access to recovery resources, community connections, and affordability of Level 1 housing remains essential. This shift to men’s Level 1 housing at this location addresses that gap, offering a balance between independence and recovery support. Our goal is to provide a pathway that fosters self-initiative, personal transformation, and lasting recovery for all our residents.”

The new Level 1 Men’s Recovery Housing will serve as an important step-down option for residents with at least ten months of active recovery. Level 1 recovery housing provides a peer-supported, alcohol- and drug-free environment with minimal supervision. This means there is no curfew or mandatory morning meetings, and visitors are allowed, though overnight stays are not permitted.  Residents are typically responsible for recovery management, and participation in formal treatment is not required. The focus is on providing a safe, sober space where individuals can build a foundation for recovery while accessing community-based resources.

Hope Town’s Level 1 Men’s Recovery Housing will maintain its foundational principles: focusing on long-term recovery, fostering independence, and connecting residents to vital community resources. Located in the heart of Windham, Ohio, the recovery home is just a 15-minute drive from Ravenna and Warren, providing easy access to courts, employment opportunities, recovery meetings and other essential services.

Hope Town Ohio remains a beacon of hope for those struggling with addiction, offering not just a place to live but a community where transformation and growth are possible.
